Nicola Van Acker is a designer living and working in Ghent, Berlin. She works in house for Verse Grafische Studio while also doing freelance work on the side.
Like many of the designers I have chosen to research, Acker adapts her strong, colourful style to work on a variety of projects. She creates logos, album covers, club posters, and has even began working with textiles recently. She's also just released her own clothing line under her studio name: Conflict Collection.
If I were to choose Acker for my creative report I would focus on how she developed her visual style. I really admire her work and am interested in what inspires her. I was drawn to her because I'm currently completing a brief involving club posters, and Acker's are a big visual inspiration. Despite having 8,000 followers, there's not a lot of information about the designer online currently - so I would have to take the opportunity to really aske a lot of question about her work, career, ways of working etc. I would also ask about what the design culture is like in Berlin and what it's like to work there - as working in Europe is something I would love to do for a while.
WHY?
- Acker lives and works in Berlin.
- She adapts her modern, colourful style to a huge array of interesting projects like working with print, brands, and textiles.
- As well as being freelance she works with an independent collective called Atelierzeven.
