Grids

Taking a step back from thinking about actual image making, I needed to go back and think about the actual layout of my posters. Beginning with posters rather than the logo/ social media content for the brand feels right - as it's an easier way of building up a visual identity. I can use the specification of an A3 poster almost as a kind of box to keep myself in while I experiment with colours, type, image etc. - I think that this will stop me from getting too carried away.

To provide myself with  a grid, I pulled some images from various musicians online of the equipment that they use to make the music. I really like how the grids that they created almost mirror the music - structured, full of layers, built up from a lot of smaller elements. For visual purposes to use later I also traced some of the shapes on the equipment, I think that it would be a good idea to use a lot of these scattered around the poster - to further visually convey that idea of something being built up.
