While I was researching 90s rave culture I came across this article about amazing photographer Simon Burtall. Simon was at school in the 90s and would go to raves with his friends. His recent book '93: Punching the Light is a collation of the photographs that he took. Within the book he also includes scans of the diary that he kept at this time in his life. I absolutely adore the scan of this diary (pictured above). I think that it is a beautiful encapsulation of this time period and the music scene. The coloured pencil overlay on the photographs mixed with rave flyers creates an absolutely beautiful, charming, and genuine look into the scene. I can see myself making some posters inspired by this.
