After my presentation I started writing down some of my initial ideas in terms of the form and how whatever I make could be dispersed. To be 100% on this, I know that I need to do some urgent research into audience and get a solid idea on what I'm making and who for (I also need to wait to be lectured on the second part of the brief for this, I think).
For now anyways I'm leaning towards a series of mini-zines that have nods towards traditional newspapers, like maybe the blackletter type reminiscent of the daily mail and the inclusion of cross-word puzzles and even a little pencil in the zine pack. When thinking about where I would disperse these - I need to remember my research into the line of public and private space. I mini-library is okay, posting it through someone's letter box is not.
At the moment I'm thinking really print-heavy, and I'm getting excited about the idea of zines, fold-out posters, stickers etc. but in the back of my mind I'm also considering social media. This obviously would be a great way to get engagement from a younger audience but I don't know if they're the audience I want to focus on. From a personal point of view, I prefer designing for a similar age to myself because it means that I can create designs that I like. I am aware, however, that positive news should not just be aimed towards one age bracket.
Also, just for a bit of fun - I began mind mapping a name. I started off with two basic words: Happy and News. I wanted to keep it to two words, both just one syllable - maybe two to keep things simple. From a lot of different variations my favourite was Glad Print - the working title for the time being.
