I feel confident about my self initiated brief working with Luke for his events company System. Orlando told me that at the moment I am in the 'Discovery Phase' - asking Luke lots of questions so that I can write a strong brief to respond to. I've planned a Zoom call with Luke for Saturday and asked him to prepare some visual examples of things that he likes. In preparation I will be writing a list of important questions to help me write my brief. Then, I can go away and begin my research and initial ideas. This will include things like 'What are the aims of your company? Who's your biggest competition? Can you show me an example of a company that inspired you? A company that you don't like? Who's your core audience?' etc.
Also, as I've set the deadline for this brief as the end of January, I need a smaller brief to work on afterwards at the beginning of February. I plan to look at the YCN Award briefs when they come out in January and also consider the Penguin Book Cover Brief as well as Secret 7.
