I've began to mock up these layouts on my seeded paper for the mini type specimen.
Initially I'm sticking to a minimal, simplistic style in order to easily communicate and showcase the typeface. I think that as it is so detailed, along with the speckled paper it doesn't need a lot of frivolous design elements. Also due to it's small size - I think keeping it simple is best.
Despite this, I did begin to try out incorporating a cartoon style inspired by the typeface's original specimen. On the back page I want their to be a description of how to plant the paper and had the idea to turn the dotted line into a flower (the line is also made out of the same rounded ovals used in Apfel Brukt). I think that this illustration style works at communicating the fun idea of the paper - but definitely needs to be utilised throughout the specimen in order to feel right. It could definitely work alongside the minimal layout if kept clean and simple.
