The client helpfully also provided me with a link to this article about modern rave art. I really like the examples given within these articles because clearly they are a lot more contemporary, and use references from past rave flyers in exciting and interesting ways. 

I think that the designers and illustrators shown within this article have a lot more experience than those who produced the visuals that the client previously provided. It's quite clear, the work is a lot stronger and professional. For example the use of type and imagery seems a lot more informed.

Gav Connell
Alexander Sullivan

I have pulled out these three designers in particular because I think that all of their work shows a strong link to 90s rave flyers - but all have their individual unique twist. For example the illustrations within Gav Connell's work are clear pastiche's of cartoons used for Acid House rave graphics. However, his colour palette and use of type bring something fresh and new to the design.
