Managed to make to make two more zines out of the same images of the five designers work. One was very simple and plain on white paper stock that focused mainly on image. The result was similar to the first zine, however, it made me think about if I wanted to include alternative paper stocks within my final publication. I found the plain zine to be less impressive and interesting to look through, and so confirmed that I wanted to include multiple paper stock to keep it interesting. In the third zine that I made I included full tracing paper pages for the type and I prefer this much more to the newsprint that I used for the first zine. The newsprint looks nice when printed onto, however, it is thin. flimsy, and tears easily. The tracing paper has the beautiful effect of sitting on top of a page and letting whats underneath shine through slightly. I think this could be great to use for both images and text and an interesting way of combining them. Finally, I slightly experimented with colour in the third zine by printing in black onto orange paper. I really like the effect of doing this as it's a cheap way of including colour whilst not having to print in colour. However, I still haven't experimented with this and it could be worthwhile.
- Think about paper stock (colour, alternating, thickness). I want to create one book instead of multiple and so it might be a good idea to go bigger - perhaps A4.
- In this case, I need to think about how it will be bound. What is practical? How strong does it need to be?
- How exactly can I use tracing paper in my final publication? I want to use it well and effectively, will this be done using images or text or both ?
- I am happy with the ongoing design of the 'designer' section of the publication. I still need to think more about how text will be used, however, I am happy with how image is being used. But, I need to move on to another section, such as creative strategies, and think about how this will look. Will it more text than image? An equal amount?
