Paper:
One colour overprint inspo:
For some reason I haven't been having a very good time with sourcing paper at all. It's been a bit all over the place, but I've finally managed to sort my self out.
Initially I was planning on using the paper from the library in uni which is 135GSM. I did some experiments on this paper and decided that I didn't like it because it was too thick.
So, I asked in my crit for any thoughts and opinions on paper and Dom mentioned Cyclus paper, which is a really nice recycled kind of newsprint. The idea of this is really nice, but the only issue is that it's only available through James in the print room and he only has a limited amount left. This isn't great, as I really wanted to practically print the publication myself.
Lastly, I went to Fred Aldous and sourced some paper from there. I have a couple of lighter weighted ones around 90GSM Which I'm excited to try out and I also have some at 135GSM. I reviewed my previous experiments on that weight of paper and i came to the conclusion that its actually not as bad as i thought it is. A peer also pointed out that the stockier paper is actually a bonus - as personally she would rather have a poster on a thicker stock as it feels more durable.
Like Dom said, I've decided to go with a one colour overprint and I have some A4 sheets to do some colour/ print tests on. I'm really excited to do these as it will allow me to find the perfect ink colour/ paper combination before printing the final thing.
