Working Title: City Canvas
Concept: A fun, collaborative, outdoor exhibition encouraging people to get out and see some art/ design. Creatives in the Leeds area will submit posters/ artwork which will then be posted around the city and pin-pointed on a map - creating an art trail for people to follow.
Forms: The map will be accessible through an app. Each poster will have a QR code on which will direct the viewer to the app. There will also be a printed flyer version of the map.
Advertising: A social media account/ posters/ flyers.
Target Audience: Creatives in the Leeds area, mainly students and young people interested in getting out and walking.
The app: The app will have:
A homepage
An about page
A page where you can submit
The map
Creatives page (a page with all the submissions)
Places of interest (for flyering/ advertising)
Hyde park
Hyde Park Picture House
LS6
Colours May Vary
Tetley
Brudenell
Headrow House
Belgrave
Poster Drums:
Leeds is full of poster drums that are not in use at the moment due to COVID. It could be possible to paste the submissions on these?
Time Scale:
This would be a great project to do in summer as more people will be easily encouraged to get out with good weather. Hypothetically if the planning begins now and the launch is in July, that gives us five months to get the branding down, advertising sorted, and plenty of time left for submissions to be collated.
Cost:
Printing cost, could be covered by a small submission fee.
Advertising cost.
Future Thinking:
If the project was successful, it could be replicated in different cities. The app could then have a menu of all the different cities involved.
