Research Task/ Lecture

You need to analyse your research to come to new conclusions. Why is it appropriate, what has it informed, what have you learnt from it, what new conclusions have come from it?

You can use your experiments and practical design as research.

'A range of research methods' you need different methods of gathering research:

Questionnaire: really think about what it is you want to know before asking questions

Its Nice That

Interviews

Books

Online

Documentaries

Existing work

Youtube

Pinterest (visual)

Audience (who are you targeting?): Own personal experiences

Observation (how are you interacting?)

Examples of contemporary graphic design (does not have to be visually relevant) Look outside of your topic!

Podcasts

Write down key words - what are you paying attention to?

Example process:

What do you already know?

Making work, observing, reflecting.

 Welcoming tangents

Reflect, be critical

Research can be practical

Read and search what already exists

Be critical

A blog post about ethical considerations

Day task:

Working in a group conduct research into a random word from the random word generator

Your random word is your starting point

Deliver a visual research map evidencing your journey of research

Starting + ending words and the research in between

Most tangents, research methods, bizarre journey
