[scans of notes]
Following the studio brief 2, I realised that using my essay as the context for the publication that I produce makes a lot of logical sense. In my essay I can discuss all of the ways that designers are designing more sustainably and them put them into practice for my practical, the two go hand in hand.
Some people Pete suggested in the talk to look at for design inspiration: Ad Reinhart, Esther McManus (and more - look on the Powerpoint!) Need to look at different examples of essay design.
[slides prepared to show my ideas so far to Pete]
Talking with Pete was really helpful and we discussed my actual question. I mentioned how I was tempted to change my question to focus on the changes that the print industry is making to better the environment, but when I started discussing my case studies, Pete realised that what I was actually talking about was design for print. He helped me come up with a new question that links better to the research I've done and the ideas I've come up with:
How are graphic designers responding to a need for more sustainability within the print industry?
I feel really confident about this, and feel like I can confidently go forward with the research and case studies that I have in writing a strong essay and produce a publication that has strong links.
