I am really adamant that whatever physical version I end up making, whether it be a true representation of the publication or a dummy copy, is the best that it can be.
In terms of the spiral bind, it's really difficult to find an appropriate mock up. Previously I ended up taking some of the high quality images from designer Elana Schlenker's website (http://elanaschlenker.com/pot-dealer-book/) and modifying them in an attempt to make my own mock up, but due to lack of skill this didn't end up looking as professional as I wanted, and wasn't up to my preferred specifications - so limited my possibilities.
I've ended up going back to Fred Aldous and picked up the notebook that I have mentioned in a previous blog. These notebooks are produced using scrap pieces of paper within the Fred Aldous store and bound together with the perfect brightly coloured spiral binds, which is what attracted me to them in the first place. The one that I ended up picking up has a bind that's split into two - and the yellow part is the perfect size for my publication.
Now that I have the binding figured out - all I have to worry about is the paper stock. I finally ordered some samples from G. F. Smith and stuck to the most bright and lurid colours that I could find.
