The Process:


Terminologies to learn:

Stock - Paper
GSM - Grams per metre. The higher the GSM, the more weighty.
Paper Grain - The direction that most of the fibres lay. The paper is easier to fold, bend or tear along it's grain direction
Absorbency
Ink holdout 
Opacity
Weight
Coated/ Uncoated
Colour Management - ensures the accuracy of colour reproduction between different equipment and processes in print production
Spot Colour: Special premixed ink that requires it's own plate at the printing press
Gatefolds/ Throw outs - Methods of inserting extra/ oversized pages
Tip-ins - Different sized pages. The attachment of a single page into a publication
Tip-ons - Different sized pages. A page pasted into the publication
Foil Blocking
Embossing
Debossing
Die cutting 
Laser cutting 
Kiss cutting
Duplexing - Bonding two stocks together to form one page
Laminate
